Eric teaches residential construction and design in the Construction and Remodeling program at Madison College in Madison, WI. A carpenter by trade since he could hold a hammer, Eric became a designer in 2006. While creating plan sets for residential remodeling projects, Eric realized the limitations of the design software that was being used by his employer. Then, Eric discovered SketchUp and his life has never been the same! The power to model the nuances of existing houses accurately and work through the intricate details of additions and renovation projects within SketchUp elevated the construction documents he produced. As a teacher, Eric uses SketchUp every day for creating instructional materials, designing the small houses that students build, and introducing future carpenters to the power of SketchUp. In 2020, Eric was awarded an Epic MegaGrant to create interactive 3D educational materials utilizing Unreal Engine along with SketchUp and other 3D modeling software.
