Clayton Wenrick
Neumann/Smith Architecture Designer
Detroit
With over 15 years of experience designing with SketchUp and an expansive knowledge of global trends, Clayton offers a unique perspective when creating real-world design solutions. His extensive time in Brazil, China, and Africa has inspired his passion for integrating innovative materials and techniques within the various built forms.
Clayton graduated with a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art & Design. Creating in 3D had a profound effect on his growth as a designer and his understanding on how to sell an idea. From 3D printing custom details to diagrammatic expression, Clayton challenges himself and his team to use SketchUp in new ways for both art and architecture.
As a member of the SketchUp based design team at Neumann/Smith Architecture, Clayton helped create and manage the firm’s SketchUp, Graphic, and Rendering Standards + Best Practices. Integrating SketchUp with other technology, Clayton formed makerspaces that incorporate digital imagery, 3D fabrication, and virtual reality within the firm’s architectural design process.
